When you look back on the process of how typing began do you start to remember that annoying clicking machine called the typewriter? Well it all started in 1873 when Christopher L. Sholes, inventor this machine. The first typewrite to be made resembled a sewing machine because they were manufactured in the same warehouse. Isn’t that weird! Unlike today’s typing on the computer, people then had to lift up the carriage to see their work so there was little room for error since there was no backspace or spell check! Christopher L. Sholes was an amazing inventor. Not only did he create such a noisy typewriter but he also gave us the system we use today to type. This system is called the QWERTY keyboard; today we know it is the universal keyboard. As amazing as this technology is I don’t think is would fit into our society today. People today relay too much on spell check and the backspace bar to go back to using a typewriter, which is permanent information. That just shows how our generation works. |
